Golden Rule Cottage's service flag is unfurled for the first time at a ceremony in June, 1918 at Good Will-Hinckley.

Service flags are banners that the families of service members in harm's way can display. Service flags have a white field with a red border with blue stars representing members of the family currently serving and gold stars representing family members who have died in service.
