This 1939 photo shows the Crockett house at the "heater" intersection, where Hallowell Road (Route 9) and West Pownal Road meet. A century before the photograph was taken, there was a general store to the right of the house; next to the store was a blacksmith shop. The small building on the left is an ice house. A few years after this photograph was taken, the ell and barn burned down.
