Image Info

Mellie Dunham of Norway, Maine, a noted snowshoe maker and fidddler, is shown in his yard, ca. 1925.

Dunham was invited by Henry Ford to perform in Dearborn, Michigan, after he won a fiddling contest in Lewiston in 1925. He also performed, for a short time, on a vaudeville circuit in the northeast.

In the photo, he is receiving a letter from the mail carrier, Johnny Judkins.
