Image Info

Arthur Schuh, a Lieutenant (Junior Grade) in the U.S. Navy Reserve during World War II, captured this photograph of a fuel barge, likely the USS Rotary (YO-148) maneuvering in the Harbor at the U.S. Navy Supply Pier in Portland. Aside from his military duties, Schuh was also a professional photographer who captured photographs of military and civilian life during World War II in and around Casco Bay. Many of his images depict rarely-seen Naval activity and locations.
