The schooner Henrietta Frances docked at Union Wharf, by the offices of D.L. Fernald & Co. Built in 1883, the Henrietta Frances was a fishing vessel owned by fish inspector David L. Fernald (1830-1903).

This photograph appeared in an album that Portland civil engineer William S. Edwards compiled. His colleague, George N. Fernald, was the son of the fish inspector. Written beneath the image is “Sch Henrietta Frances, Union Wharf. Apr 9, 1887.”
