Hand-carved wood trim was one of the features of the Pooler mansion in Skowhegan, occupied by Margaret Chase Smith from her marriage to Clyde Smith in 1930 until she sold the house in 1945.

The house had eight fireplaces, many with elaborate hand carving and tiled frames and hearths.
