Image Info

People used hand fans made of feathers as decorative accessories. With a rigid structure, handscreen fans are not collapsable.

Opera singers popularized the use of feather accessories in the early 20th century. This fan is associated with opera singer Lillian Blauvelt who performed in Bar Harbor in 1904.
