Assistant Surveyor Samuel Thompson, working under the authority of the Commissioners of the 7th Articles of the Treaty of Ghent, created this manuscript survey of the North Eastern Minnesota/Ontario border from Lake Kaseiganagh east to Lake Superior. The map notes various portage distances, lakes, and other bodies of water that make up the international boundary.

This map is part of a larger archive, the Thomas Barclay collection (Coll. 26), related to the drawing of the Northeast boundary between British Canada and the United States.
