This manuscript map was created by Alexander Wadsworth Longfellow, most likely in fulfillment of the Webster-Ashburton Treaty. This fragment is similar to a series of maps made between 1843 and 1844 under the commission appointed to determine the borders across the northern frontiers of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York.
