British surveyor Samuel Thompson created this manuscript map of the Pigeon River, which included the waterways between Lakes Kaseigunaha and Superior, in fulfillment of the 7th article of the Treaty of Ghent. Thompson also added notes on portages, swamps, rapids, and other general information that would aid in traversing the area.

This map is part of a larger archive, the Thomas Barclay collection (Coll. 26), related to the drawing of the Northeast boundary between British Canada and the United States.
