Considered more "mature" in style, this deep brown, grosgrain (heavy weight) silk day dress features a V shaped front panel, wide spread collar, and pointed sleeves. Voided velvet trim with a floral design appears horizontally across the front panel, vertically down the pleated skirt, and around the cuffs. A lace collar adds a delicate detail. The iconic 1920s drop waist is also trimmed with the voided velvet.

Voided velvet, also known as cut or burnout velvet, is made by carving away at, or weaving an area with no pile, in contrast to a raised pattern. In this instance, a flower and vine pattern is set against a latticework-type background.
