Image Info

This is the aftermath of the 44 1/2-hour long blaze that consumed Grafton's Lumber Mill in Biddeford.

The Saco-Lowell Building that was built in 1921 is still standing, while the Grafton building that was built in 1911 was destroyed. During the fire, falling brick walls hampered the progress of the firefighters whom had responded from Kennebunk, Portland, South Portland, Old Orchard Beach, Falmouth and Scarborough.
