Lucretia Day Sewall, a native of Portland, is shown with one of her 10 children in a photograph taken about 1845.

She and her husband, Kiah Bayley Sewall, a native of Edgecomb, lived in Mobile, Alabama, from 1839 until 1865. He died on his way back to Portland.

They had 10 children. Eunice was born in 1838 in Portland and the other nine were born in Mobile, where Kiah Sewall had gone because of his health.
