The "Empress," a 33' motorboat, cruises across Boothbay Harbor towards Squirrel Island in 1912. At the helm is Randall McLellan; his passenger in the back is his son, Paul McLellan. The "Empress" was owned by F.E. Stanley who owned a summer residence on Squirrel Island. Randall McLellan was a mainland contractor who built and maintained the Stanley cottages on the island, and also looked after the Stanleys' boat.
