One of several Fred Johnson photographs of the annual Waterford Winter Carnival, started in 1926 by the newly formed Oxford County United Parish. The events continued to be held until the beginning of World War II.

The building at left in the background was at one time the Stanton Ray Store, which burned in 1974. Center background was the Old Rowley Inn, formerly Forest House and Rice House, which also burned at a later date. At right is today Melby's Store, formerly Tut's and Perkins' Store.
