As part of a Portland Water District construction project to build a new gate and screen house at Sebago Lake, a new pipeline was extended 1600 feet into Sebago Lake from the new intake using a combination vessel, pictured here, that contained both a bucket and a derrick.

The bucket dug out a trench and the derrick lowered the pipe sections in the trench. Divers worked from the vessel to bolt and seam the pipe connections under water.
