Image Info

The Beachwood Hotel was one of many hotels that catered to the summer tourist community in Old Orchard Beach throughout the first half of the 20th century. The building was constructed in 1874 and known as the Montreal House. The close proximity to the railroad bolstered the hotel’s success. The name changed to the Beachwood Hotel in 1947. The original houses were destroyed by fire in 1975, and the site now consists of waterfront motel units.

The caption reads, "The Beachwood, Old Orchard Beach, Maine."

The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1938.
