The post office is located at 5 Temple Street in Kennebunkport. It was constructed by the Treasury Department in 1940. The caption reads, "Post office, Kennebunkport, Maine." In 1940 the Postmaster General was James A. Farley. Supervising architect was Louis A. Simon.

The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1938.
