Image Info

Casco Castle in South Freeport was built in 1903 as a destination on the Portland and Brunswick Street Railway. The facility included a hotel, zoo and baseball field. It burned in 1914, and all that remained was the tower structure, seen here.

The caption reads, "The Old Tower, South Freeport, Maine."

The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1930-1945.
