Image Info

Located at the entrance to Portland Harbor at the end of a breakwater in South Portland, Bug Light was built in 1875 of cast iron with a brick lining.

The lighthouse keeper's house was added in 1889 with additional structures added later.

The light flashed white every four seconds. In 1934 it was electrified, and discontinued in 1942.

All buildings except the lighthouse were removed in 1935.
