Mildred Burrage of Kennebunkport (1890-1983) studied and worked as an artist in Paris in the 1910s and became interested in Paris fashions. Among her personal papers, she had a number of fashion drawings, also known as line sheets, which she may have received from a friend.

The unidentified fashion house described the "la Pompadour" style as a "Lovely evening gown in beautiful flowered taffeta. Straight line at the back, but full front. An attached fabric swatch allowed interested costumers to experience the look and feel, and order the garment direct from the designer.
