Men work on Portland's water supply, which pipes water from Sebago Lake.Show Details
Beginning in 1923 work began on a new intake and conduit system at Sebago Lake to convey water to the transmission mains, thereby increasing the amount of water available to Portland area residents.
Portland began pumping water from Sebago Lake in 1869 to insure adequate water supplies for domestic and firefighting purposes.
