Image Info

The Carlton Bridge over the Kennebec River between Bath and Woolwich opened in 1928.

The lower deck served the railroad and the upper deck, cars, trucks and pedestrians.

The rail yard can be seen on the right of this image. The bridge was named for Maine State Senator Frank W. Carlton for his efforts in getting the project funded.
