A photo of visitors at Old Orchard Beach was published in the Portland Sunday Telegram on July 25, 1920 in a series entitled, "Sunday Telegram camera man shoots at random along the beach at Old Orchard."

The article commented on the religious camp-meetings being held at Old Orchard, the hiring of the first policewoman, and the new fashion of rolled-down stockings, as seen on the young woman to the right.

"The short silk socks have increased by leaps and bounds since July came in, and now they are quite the fad," the paper reported. "For the balance of the season rolled down stockings will be popular with the sea nymphs who frequent the bathing beach."
