In 1954 the Iron Bridge that crosses Main Street between the Scales Building and the Guilford Woolen Mill, was dynamited and dropped into the Piscataquis River where it was dismantled. A temporary foot bridge was built and can be seen on the left of the photograph. The temporary foot bridge was washed out during a flood that same year. Construction for a new steel bridge began.Show Details
