Half of a brass sword hilt guard from an English sword of the mid-eighteenth century excavated from the officers quarters of Fort Frederick at Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site. This was of the hinged type to allow the sword to fit snugly against the soldier when worn in a scabbard.
