Image Info

The Watts Block originally built and presented to the Town of Thomaston by prominent shipbuilder Captain Samuel Watts in 1890, burned to the ground in 1915. Insurance monies plus a donation from Watt’s daughter, Mary Jane, allowed the town to immediately rebuild a new block, which still stands today on the southwest corner of Knox and Main Streets. The second floor serves as a town hall and meeting space. The town offices and police department are currently housed on the first floor along with a commercial retail space.
