Image Info This house was built ca. 1800 by Captain Nathaniel Scamman and his wife, Sarah Jordan (Col. Tristram Jordan's daughter) on Main Street, just above Thornton Academy. Edith Scamman (1882-1967), noted botanist, bequeathed the house to Thornton Academy and it was eventually demolished.
