The Mary Brown Home (Portland Invalids' Home) waiting room in the Deering section of Portland.Show Details
The facility was a rest home for women recovering from a hospital stay or from exhaustion caused by their employment.
Mary Brown founded founded the home in 1894 and bought a house on Revere Street in 1895, which served as a residence until 1903 when a newer home was built on Capisic Street.
This was later renamed the Eunice Frye Home.
