Image Info

Built in 1754, this blockhouse was the only remaining structure of the larger complex called Fort Halifax. The fort was built in the Maine wilderness of present-day Winslow just before the French and Indian Wars.

The artist for this work was James Hamilton Shegogue (1806-1872), a native of Charleston, South Carolina.
