A Haydn Association ticket got the bearer into a reception of the Remains of George Peabody. It is signed by Abner Lowell.

George Peabody, a native of Danvers, Massachusetts, was founder of the Peabody Institute. He made his money as an investment banker in London. He is considered by many to be the founder of modern philanthropy.

Peabody died in London on November 4, 1869. His will provided that he be buried in Danvers. His remains were shipped on the Monarch, the newest and largest ship in Her Majesty's Navy. The ship stopped off in Portland on its way to Danvers.

Abner Lowell was a jeweler in Portland.
