Accompanying caption reads, “This slaughter house was operating at full speed at the time I was attending Ricker (Classical Institute) (1890-1894). They slaughtered sheep and cows only and they were shipped in refrigerator cars to Boston Markets. ... (unreadable and damaged text) after the sheep industry [ended] this slaughter house was used for slaughtering hogs and cattle for years by C. W. Starkey.”
