The steamboat "Islander" approaches the dock at Squirrel Island, circa 1905.

The 106-foot-long "Islander" was built in Bath in 1883 and was used in passenger ferry service between Bath and the Boothbay Harbor area for about 25 years before being sold to the south sometime after the turn of the century.

She was replaced by a smaller vessel, also named the "Islander," which was built in East Boothbay in 1908.
