The map shows southern Maine and northeastern New Hampshire. It was was "prepared expressly to illustrate Tuttle's Historical Papers. 1889." Astronomer and historian Charles Wesley Tuttle authored a series of historical papers, known collectively as "Tuttle's Historical Papers." This map appeared within Tuttle's work Francis Champernowne, the Dutch conquest of Acadie, and other historical paperscopy.Show Details
Francis Champernowne (1614-1687) was a prominent settler of Kittery, and nephew of Sir Fernando Gorges.
