Rosemary brand Maine blueberries canning label from the Pleasant River Canning Company in Columbia Falls, located in Washington County about 15 miles outside of Jonesport, in what is known as the Pleasant River Valley.

Washington and Hancock Counties led the state in blueberry production. Commercially harvested since the 1840’s and canned since the 1860’s, wild blueberries are indigenous to Maine and are often seen as the symbol of Maine’s rich agricultural heritage. This canning label included a traditional recipe for Old Fashion Juicy Blueberry Pie, as well as other suggested uses for canned Maine blueberries.
