Image Info

Associated with the Bradbury family of Standish, the maker of this coat employed a textured, novelty wool called bouclé, creating a simulated fur effect.

While the jacket originally included eight decorative off-center buttons, only three survive. Inside the jacket, twelve smaller buttons close the coat. The jacket itself is made of a looped fabric called bouclé, and the sleeves are satin with bouclé cuffs. The bustle feature at the back is indicative of late 19th century fashions.
