The Portland Press Herald and the Portland Evening Express often featured school children engaged in seasonal activities. On Wednesday, November 25, 1936 the Evening Express ran a collage of students in Thanksgiving plays across the city, which included this photograph.

The caption for this photograph reads: "Oh, oh. Little Richard Halpin has already got his fingers into the Thanksgiving turkey. He is the four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Halpin of Mechanic Street and a pupil of the Garvin School kindergarten."
