The Laredo, Texas military band marches the streets of the city, playing their instruments and boosting morale for civilians. The band was stationed on Laredo in 1916 to protect the Mexican-American Border during the Mexican Revolution, ongoing since 1910.

Many soldiers in the band and otherwise stationed in Laredo would go on to participate in World War I when the U.S. became involved in 1917. Herbert Cobb of Portland was part of the Laredo military band, and later deployed to France.
