The Francis Waldo - Daniel Dole house is named for two of its prior owners. Located in the Stroudwater section of Portland on Westbrook Street, the home was built circa 1762 by Francis Waldo, one time Custom Collector and Surveyor of the port of Portland.

Daniel Dole, the fellow namesake for the historic home was a long term owner in the 19th and early 20th centuries. His ownership spanned over six decades, during which the property fell within the boarders of Westbrook, Deering and Portland as boundary lines moved in the latter half of the 19th century. His son Daniel, Jr. was owner during the 1924 Portland Tax Reevaluation.

The photograph pictured here was taken by Rufus Lovejoy ca. 1940.
