These carved feet were ornamental supports for the Torah ark at Anshe Sfard, a Chassidic synagogue built on Cumberland Avenue near Wilmot Street in Portland in 1917.

The ark probably held three Torahs. It was topped with a carved eagle, painted gold.

The Andshe Sfard congregation diminished and the synagogue closed in the 1950s. The building was demolished in 1983.
