The house is model of the Wadsworth-Longfellow House in Portland, which was built in 1785-86 by Peleg Wadsworth and later the home of Wadsworth's daughter Zilpah and her husband, Stephen Longfellow, and their children.

On the front of the model to the right of the door is a lithographed plaque that reads, "Longfellow House."
