Image Info

This is a view looking northwest up North Main Street from its intersection with Main Street in Rockland. The three-story brick building barely visible on the left is the Rankin Block.

Next to it stands a small, white, frame barbershop. A little farther up North Main Street stands a white frame house owned by Samuel Rankin and just beyond that is the two-story brick house built by David Gay and owned in 1875 by Samuel Rankin.

A cooper from Blackington's Corner or beyond is driving a wagon-load of empty barrels down the middle of North Main Street to a lime kiln along the shore.
