Image Info Gladys Jordan was the first woman to serve as a foreman on a murder case in Maine. She led the jury that tried Benjamin Turner for murdering James Hallen in 1927.

Unfortunately, Miss Jordan experienced a nervous breakdown in bed during the second night of the proceedings. Because of her health scare she spent a night in the hospital, which delayed the trial.
