The Townsend Avenue branch of Porter's drug store in Boothbay Harbor operated for about 100 years, beginning in 1893. Its Commercial Street branch had a shorter life.

In this ca. 1930 photograph of the Townsend Avenue store, clerks Ruth Farnham and Raymond Tibbetts stand facing four young customers: Luther Reed, Francis Greene II, Bertrand Rowe, and Ivern P. Farnham.
