Jean Baptiste (John) Vigue, born 1890 in St. Georges, Quebec, joined Central Maine Power Co. in 1909 when it was still known as Messalonskee Electric Company.

He gained a reputation for speed and vigor as a lineman, and according to one estimate, helped build roughly 700 miles of transmission in his 43 years of service.

Two of Vigue’s sons, Albert and Donald, also worked for CMP.
