Image Info

Floodwaters in March, 1936 reached buildings in the Head of Falls neighborhood in Waterville. Formally a housing area for workers at the area mills and their families, the neighborhood was razed as part of Waterville's Urban Renewal program in the 1960s. The photographer took the photo from the railroad bridge between Waterville and Winslow. This bridge, unlike another in Waterville and some around New England, survived the flood.
