Mrs. Katherine Whitney McGregor and her husband Mr. Tracy W. McGregor provided the funding for Whitney Cottage. The cottage was named in memory of Katherine's father, who had made a fortune in the pinewoods of Michigan and for many years the McGregors sent homeless boys from Michigan to Good Will-Hinckley. Architects William R. Miller and Raymond J. Mayo designed this cottage.
