Simon Cameron of Pennsylvania was the Secretary of War under President Abraham Lincoln from the beginning of the Civil War until 1862, when he resigned in a corruption scandal.

Cameron had served in the U.S. Senate from 1844-1849 and was again elected to the Senate in 1866. He served until 1877.
