Kenarden Lodge was built on the Shore Path in Bar Harbor in 1892 for John Stewart Kennedy. It was designed by Rowe and Baker of New York City. The original cost was $200,000.00. The Lodge had its own power plant.

The second owner of Kenarden Lodge was Dr. John Thompson Dorrance, a chemist who began working for the Campbell Company in 1897. He was the inventor of condensed soup. Dr. Dorrance died in 1930. The Lodge was torn down in 1960.
