Image Info

Eva Watts Barbour painted what is perhaps the most photographed elm tree in Maine, "The Doughnut Tree." This elm was located in front of the Isaiah Warren House on Portland Street of Fryeburg.

It was known all over the country particularly because of a large branch that had grown in a complete circle near to the ground then upward, equal in length to the other branches. In this tree's curved limb have stood many children of several generations.
